Homemade Applesauce Recipe
One of my favorite things to make here at the Doggie Cakes kitchen is our applesauce. I use it in a variety of treats and doggie cakes. I started making it myself to eliminate any extra salts, sugars and preservatives from our teats. I found this simple and delicious recipe. It is so yummy I always keep a small container just to snack on myself. You can also substitute the apples with pears, for a wonderful pear sauce.
Simple Slow Cooker Applesauce
Ingredients
- 10 to 12 apples (I like to use Fuji but whichever you like best would be fine)
- 1/2 cup of water
- 1 tbsp ground cinnamon
Directions
- Core and peel the apples.
- Place peeled apples in slow cooker
- Pour water over apples
- Set slow cooker to low and let cook for 6 to 8 hours
- Mash apples with a potato masher
- Add ground cinnamon and stir
- Let cook for 1 more hour
- Enjoy!
