Gingerbread’s Headband Hijinks
Hello, dear readers and fellow nap enthusiasts,
It’s me, Gingerbread, your resident Doggie Cakes’ dog blogger and nap aficionado, here to spill the tea (or kibble) on the latest Momventure. Brace yourselves—this one’s a doozy.
Apparently, Mom has decided that the world isn’t complete without headbands…for dogs. Yes, you heard that right. Headbands. For. Dogs. Now, don’t get me wrong, I’m all for accessorizing. A snazzy bandana or a festive bow is cool and all, but headbands? Really?
The madness started last week when Mom came back from the craft store with bags of yarn and a twinkle of determination in her eyes. That’s when I knew—my naptime was in jeopardy. Sure enough, I soon found myself the unwilling model for a series of crocheted creations. Top hats, bunny ears, flowers—you name it, she made it, and I wore it.
Now, I’ll admit, I’m a good sport. I mean, look at me. I can rock a headband like nobody’s business. But this is getting out of paw. Nap interruptions are happening at an alarming rate. I’ll be mid-dream—chasing squirrels, frolicking in fields of bacon—and suddenly, there she is, gently plopping yet another yarn concoction on my head.
And let’s talk about these designs. Today’s masterpiece? A tiny black top hat perched atop a stretchy white band. Cute? Sure. But practical? Not so much. I gave her my best side-eye as she cooed, “Oh, Gingerbread, you look so dapper!” Lady, I was in the middle of dreaming about an all-you-can-eat biscuit buffet.
Of course, she doesn’t stop at just admiring her handiwork. She has to take photos. Lots of photos. “Just one more angle,” she says. “This lighting is perfect!” Meanwhile, I’m plotting my escape back to my favorite spot on the couch.
Mom’s goal is to add these headbands to the Doggie Cakes product lineup, and honestly, I have to give her credit. She’s got big dreams. But do dogs everywhere really want to spend their precious nap time being accessory guinea pigs? I have my doubts.
To all my furry friends out there: if these headbands become a thing, remember who suffered first. And to all the humans reading this, please, for the love of naps, buy these things so my mom doesn’t feel the need to “test” them anymore.
Until next time, stay stylish (but not at the cost of your snooze).
Paws and yawns,
Gingerbread
